This article had a clean up tag, so I cleaned it up enough to meet copy-cohesion standards (I think). I also added some missing content from the listed references, but a lot of the listed 'full references' have relevant information that I couldn't get to atm. The social legacy, society, and geography sections could be more filled in too.
