Talk:Dzhokhar Tsarnaev/Archive 2017

Disturbing photograph choice.

For someone exclusively known for a terrorist attack, why has the choice been made to visually represent this guy in the most flattering light? I feel the choice of photograph is more to highlight his immigration status than to reflect what he is known for. This is a bias. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:A021:4300:347A:BC53:1C3E:C784 (talk) 02:44, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Why This Picture?

For a terrorist this picture makes him seem innocent, normal, and no so much like a terrorist. Someone should really change it. The picture should look more frighting in my opinion... PeopleAreSoScaryWhenYourShy (talk) 00:26, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

I don't really care what picture is used, but I think this is a silly criticism since it suggests that pretty people can't do evil things. No one ever told you not to judge a book by its cover? It seems that one of the most disturbing things about this case is how well he fit in with his peer group at college and how liked he was. So in that sense, a nice looking photo of him is more "accurate". 204.145.225.33 (talk) 16:37, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

"Man" or "terrorist" in the first sentence?

TheDiaz has changed Dzhokhar's description in the first sentence from "Kyrgyz-American man" to "Kyrgyz-American terrorist". I don't think this is the most accurate way to describe Tsarnaev. I guess the question is, is one act of terrorism enough to justify describing that person in the first sentence of their article as "terrorist" rather than "man"? I thought opening it up to discussion would be better than edit warring. LAroboGuy (talk) 20:03, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Not "terrorist". He isn't someone with a long career in terrorism, and although he may be called a terrorist in some sources, I suspect that is not how most reliable sources would describe him in their opening sentence. It is too blatantly judgmental. It is better for an encyclopedia to be understated than to read like the headlines of a tabloid. See also WP:TERRORIST. —BarrelProof (talk) 20:42, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
