PROD was over the top edit
Afd would be more reasonable, given how short it is it could well be merged into list of chess variants without loss of content to the encyclopedia. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 10:05, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
- MaxBrowne2, Is there anything in this article currently that isn't contained in the current entry on that list? I'd support an AfD that would lead to a redirect (or just quickly making this article a redirect), I just felt that a PROD would be less fuss. --LukeSurl t c 10:23, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
Pawns returning to starting rank vs starting position edit
The Classified Encyclopedia of Chess Variants (2007), by Pritchard and Beasley, states that in Push Chess a pawn regains its ability to advance two steps once it returns to its starting rank. The very next section covers Dynamo Chess, which is described as being essentially Push Chess with two rule changes. It then goes on to describes the rule for Dynamo Chess by referring to the pawn's "original position", which is more specific than rank.
In this Wikipedia article, I used the rank-based version of the rule, for two reasons: (1) it's not clear whether Pritchard and Beasley intended to change this rule from Push Chess, and (2) this frees up players and implementers from having to track the dynamo effects on each pawn.
