They are both D. tinctorius, but are different morphs. The one on the front page is probably a 'Regina' morph, while this image is probably a 'Cobolt' morph. --Leperflesh 02:00, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

There is controversy over the status of the varieties of tinctorius; no recent papers establish any of the common morphs as subspecies, however. In fact, D. azureus has recently been placed as synonymous with tinctorius, without a subspecies designation. --Leperflesh (talk) 20:17, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Just recommending that some citations be put in the etymology section.

Not extinct?

Its written in the article that this is currently extinct, but the Red list claims that its listed as least concern, see Dendrobates tinctorius on iucnredlist.org. Dan Koehl (talk) 17:20, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
