Tunnel?? edit

The section added on the supposed tunnel from Port Coquitlam to Surrey I've never heard before and it was uncited; the "external link" claiming to be about "Islands of Greater VAncouver" was actually a spam link promoting a particular commercial website and had nothing to do with ANY island. I'll check with a friend who's read everything there is to read about th Royal Engineers....Moody had some pretty crazy ideas, this might have been one of them but I've never heard it before.....Skookum1 (talk) 16:16, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I received a reply from Terry Glavin, himself a Port Coquitlam native and an expert in the history of that part of the river and also of BC; it is:
A hilarious hoax. Whoever thought to do this really put some time into it. See: http://www.pocomuseum.org/pdf/Summer_2010.pdf
My PDF plugin isn't working so I cant check the context of that pdf. If anyone wants to argue, take it to Terry.....engineering technology to tunnel the Fraser was completely out of Moody's depth (so to speak) as an engineer; the Fraser silt is in that area over a mile deep; the Deas Tunnel is a casement lying on the river's bed and that's all that can be done on alluvial terrain. But even that technology didn't exist in 1858.....Skookum1 (talk) 18:11, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

the other Douglas Island edit

Is off the coast of VAncouver Island between Lantzville and Parksville; I'm not sure how to dab it .... Douglas Island (Georgia Strait) maybe, though that's Georgia Strait as a water-region rather than the strait proper (the island is in Ballenas Channel). It would help if Capt Richards had named it "Lady Douglas Island" since it's named for Amelia Douglas rather than her hubby the Gov. See BCGNIS "Douglas Island (Nanaimo Land District)].Skookum1 (talk) 18:26, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
