links
editThe article is about the disease model of addiction and not 12 step recovery so I removed the link to alcoholics anonymous and the gamblers anonymous website. Othwerwise we'll have a hundred links to various 12 step groups.
This is not a 12 step group article so I do not see the relevance of these 12 step group links. I did add addiction and alcoholism. If we are going to add links let;s try and use ones relevant to the disease model of addiction. Mr Christopher 19:44, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Unclear sentence
editThis sentence is unclear: "The traditional medical model of disease requires only that an abnormal condition be present that causes discomfort, dysfunction, or distress to the individual afflicted." Requires for what?
Did the editor mean to write, "In the medical model, disease comprises merely discomfort, dysfunction or distress to the individual afflicted." And if so, what did they mean to imply that the model excludes? Marshall46 (talk) 15:41, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Discussion pointer
editI've started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine#Models of addiction as a neutral ground regarding this article and the Life-process model of addiction article. --Geniac (talk) 13:43, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
