"stream discharge is mmm"?Edit

What is the "mmm" in the following sentence supposed to be? I tried to see if any clue could be found in the article's history, but I found none. Can anyone clean this up?

Analysis of the relationship between precipitation intensity and duration, and the response of the stream discharge is mmm by the concept of the unit hydrograph which represents the response of stream discharge over time to the application of a hypothetical "unit" amount and duration of rain, for example 1 cm over the entire catchment for a period of one hour. [emphasis added]

I think it is meant to be something like: "Analysis...and the response of the stream discharge is aided by the concept of the unit hydrograph..." But its just an educated guess. Dappawit (talk) 17:13, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

The "mmm" was added thus [1] on 7 March 2007. I thought it might have been vandalism, so I looked for the change point. But it was introduced by a seemingly AGF editor. I am now changing it to "aided", as per the suggestion above. --Greenmaven (talk) 05:22, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Methods and Techniques for Measuring DischargeEdit

I would like to add a section describing the techniques and methods for the historical measurements of discharge, along with the current day methods of Acoutic Velocity Meters, Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler's and other advances.--Michael E. Defining a Discharge RatingEdit

Geomorphic Features Controlling a Discharge RatingEdit

The last heading I would like to add is a dialogue about the different controlling features of a discharge rating. For example, a description of section control (low water riffle), section to channel control transition, and overbank flow. Also, a description of how these features are developed or maintained by the mean annual flood discharge, bankfull discharges, overbank flows and the importance of base flow conditions.--Michael E. I really appreciate you asking on the talk page, but as this is a only moderately-visited article (a few 100 hits / day), I would say just go for it, no talk page consensus necessary - make all the changes you want! Proposed merge of Inflow (hydrology) into Discharge (hydrology)Edit

There's nothing much in Inflow other than a duplication of the water cycle. fgnievinski (talk) 05:22, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

  • Merge – Agree with need for merge, the Inflow (hydrology) article doesn't add anything encyclopedic Jokulhlaup (talk) 10:15, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
  • A merge seems reasonable, but would really need a change in the target's title too. While outflow is in some sense synonymous with discharge, inflow isn't. So, perhaps Discharge and inflow (hydrology). Klbrain (talk) 10:23, 8 September 2021 (UTC)
