Please notice that the following look different from each other. I changed the first to the second in this article:

in mn-1 dimensional projective space.
in (mn − 1)-dimensional projective space.

The second form is in accord with WP:MOSMATH and is legible. The first is not.

The differences are:

  • A minus sign rather than a hyphen.
  • Space before and after the minus sign.
  • Parentheses.
  • The hyphen between the parentheses and the succeeding word.
