Proposed split: Stormwater detention vault

edit

Some text describing stormwater detention vaults (underground vaults) was recently added to this article. These vaults are not detention basins--they look different from basins and are built differently. Some or many of the underground storage devices/vaults are "off the shelf" commercial products. A separate article is needed for underground detention vaults (and possibly the related commercial products). Also, diagrams or photos of commercial devices should only be used if there is no non-commercial source. (Similar comments posted at Talk:Retention basin). I've created a new page for stormwater detention vault, for the reasons described above. I've deleted text on underground detention and other redundant/inaccurate info from the detention basin article. Also deleted commercial links, per WP:LINKS. Moreau1 (talk) 04:29, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

References & links associated with manufacturers or vendors of stormwater management devices should be replaced with neutral references such as journal articles or government publications. (I have added a few such references.) Moreau1 (talk) 05:51, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

debris drop vaults

edit

Does anyone know the technical name for these? These are structures located in the inbound water channel that are large underground vaults. Heavy objects simply drop into them as the water flows past with the water flowing into the basin. I know that they exist because they are used on several detention basins around here. Man made or natural? I can't find anything natural that fits this description. —Mattisse (Talk) 21:53, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
