Debal is a professional photographer, and also lectures to a range of groups from professional photographers through to students of architecture/building studies/quantity surveying as well as adult learners and running childrens' holiday courses. Born in Accra, Ghana, West Africa in September 1964 to an Indian father Diptish Narayan Bagchi an aeronautical engineer from Jamsherpur, Nadia District in West Bengal and Edith Kraus a nurse from Südetenland via Germany. He spent the first 6 years of his life in Ghana before coming to England, where he lived in Osterley, West London, and then left in October 1974 to Malaysia. Boarding school in Mayfield, East Sussex ensued, and then he read Physics with Medical Applications in King's College, University of London. Work as a data analyst for Western Geophysical Co. of America brought him much numerical experience, which he later utilized as a Diamond Analyst, being part of the team which broke the DeBeers' Diamond Cartel on behalf of the Australian Mine Argyle Diamonds. Removed map showing Dabhol, which has nothing whatsoever to do with Debal. (Debal is modern-day Karachi; Dabhol is a port in western Maharashtra, on the Konkan coast. It is unclear from this article and the article on Debal what the relation of the two cities might be. It is clear that there is mention of a city named Debal in historical records. Is the name Banbhore also found in historical records? Or is this a more modern place name used to describe the discovery of the ruins of a medieval port?
