Revert

Theirs article needs to be reverted back to it's previous state containing all articles for individual cameras. The removal of those links should have been discussed here first. Many Wikipedians have worked hard to create those articles and to contribute to this article as a whole. The complete removal of individual camera links should not be up to the decision of one individual.

Suggestion

As a suggestion, would it be possible to incorporate license free photos produced by cyber shot camera models and incorporate them into the relevant pages in this article. For example an image taken by a Cybershot P100 could be incorporated into that camera models page in order to demonstrate it's imaging capabilities. Perhaps it would also be appropriate to have license free photos of each of the camera models be taken and uploaded onto Wikipedia and incorporated into the articles. Is it possible therefore, to have more images relating to the cybershot brand in order to enhance this article. Cybershot is an imaging brand, therefore it would only be logical to incorporate more images to demonstrate what the article/text describes. First, watch your language and no personal attacks please. He is removing your edits because they are incorrect or unneeded. The H-series is not prosumer by most standards. It is important to mention the video of the M-series, as that is its primary marketing feature. "Like" does not need quotes. Most of all, the new Sony DSLR's will NOT part be part of the Cyber-shot line and not numbered DSC-Axxx! Where'd you see that? 68.184.209.190 06:55, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

I created this page and moved everything here from Cybershot (sans hyphen). A check with Sony's website reveals that the correct name of the trademark has a hyphen.

It is not bad to add year of introduction of the brand.

I own the Sony Ericsson K800i Cybershot which is the first mobile to feature the Cybershot name. It has 3.2 mega pixels and an auto focus lens with a built in flash. It also has image and video stabiliser function and has thin dimensions. I could not ask for more. It has brilliant quality and is just as good as a high end digital camera. Expansion request

This page needs to be expanded. First, all Cybershot model names (e.g., DSC-T1) should redirect to this page. The metadata of uploaded images still have red links. I don't have enough information to perform this expansion. - Eagle^amn 05:06, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

I did DSC-T5, DSC-T7 and DSC-T9 as these are the camera's I personally have. Someone needs to fill in the blanks though. --dogbomb 08:40, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't see why all Cyber-shot model names should redirect to this page. This seems to limit what information can be said about them. The various Cyber-shot models seem to be different enough from each other to merit individual articles. An example of a great article about a specific camera model is Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20. –jonsafari 22:44, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

I agree with dogbomb, many images which are uploaded on Wikipedia contain metadata which contains which camera model the image has been produced by. If the camera model is a Cyber-shot P100 the link within the metadata should follow through to inform the user on the Cyber-shot P100 and it's capabilities and not the broader Cybershot Brand name. The same can be said for a certain make of car, there are articles on both the brand name of car eg BMW and the car model eg M3

Merge?

Is every single model of camera notable enough to warrant its own article? Very little is on the main Cyber-shot page as it is now. Isopropyl 02:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Each camera has been given it's own page as in Wikipedia images taken and uploaded often contain Metadata along with the image which states the exact model of the camera eg. "Sony Cybershot P92", therefore each camera model should receive it's own page in order to give the most accurate and most thorough information as possible to the audience of the cybershot article and sub-articles, this is just one advantage to having individual pages for each camera model, along with a plathora of other reasons which someone else may wish to discuss..

Still I don't get it

There are articles on Nikon Coolpix 5000 and scores of other N-pointandshoots, yet the articles on Sony cameras were all replaced with redirects to nothing. Did I miss something? Is Nikon a sacred cow? NVO (talk) 23:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Batteries

From the article lead:

The Cyber-shot range is well known for its proprietary InfoLithium battery pack...

I haven't edited as I'm not 100% certain, but I think I'm right in saying that some Cyber-shots (eg the P series) take standard AA cells.
