Final standings

A. The final standings for the curling events at the 2002 Winter Olympics (and also the 1998 and 2006 Winter Olympics) did not allow for round robin ties to be broken among teams that did not play a playoff game or a tiebreaker game. Such teams were ranked equal. The Olympic.org database confirms this: Japan and Denmark are ranked equal in the women's tournament. Great Britain, Denmark and U.S.A. are ranked equal in the men's tournament.

Note: Teams which lost a tiebreaker game were ranked in reverse order of the tiebreak round in which they lost. Teams which lost in the same tiebreak round were ranked equal. The practice of breaking all ties began following the 2007 World Championships.

B. While the total wins and losses in the final standings may be interesting to some, one needs to reverse engineer this to figure out what the standings were at the end of the round robin. I would highly recommend having the round robin standings (with wins and losses) and then having the final standings listed separately (wins and losses optional).
