Talk:Cremorne, Victoria

By what process was the suburb of Cremorne created? Everyone I know still calls it Richmond - Is it really a seperate suburb? Can this be added to the article? --Commking 00:04, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cremorne was officially recognised as a suburb in 1999 as part of a review of place names. For convenience it is often called Richmond as no-one knows what you are talking about when you say Cremorne, or they think its in Sydney. But it is a distinct suburb not a locality. I'm still not clear by what process or authority this was done - who renames suburbs, anyway? --Commking 07:47, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

They are registered by the Registrar of Geographic Names - part of the Department of Sustainability and Environment. You can visit it here. [1] Andypasto 08:23, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Excellent - thank you. I work in Cremorne, but all our letterheads still say Richmond. Everyone here has no idea that the suburb of Cremorne even exists... --Commking 22:28, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Its interesting to note that Cremorne shares its Australia Post postcode with Richmond: 3121 covers Richmond East, North, South and Cremorne.Pauken 07:07, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why is Richmond Railway Station mentioned in this article as the busiest outside Melbourne CBD? Richmond railway station, Melbourne doesn't mention this fact, and Footscray, Victoria lists Footscray Station as the busiest, citing this 2010 article from The Age. 114.198.95.89 (talk) 09:01, 12 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
