Courtalam vs. Courtallam, is splitting required ? edit

In the 2011 census two places are reported out for Tenkasi taluk beginning with Courtal, namely: Courtalam (TP) and Courtallam. Courtalam (TP) is reported as having a 2011 population of 2,160, while Courtallam is reported as having a 2011 population of 3,070. It appears that the village is larger than the panchayat town, and that this article has conflated the two of them. It appears from the Tenkasi entry in the National Panchayat Directory] that the individual villages in Tenkasi taluk have not been mapped out. Unfortunately, neither "Courtalam" nor ""Courtallam" appear there as panchayat villages. The Tirunelveli District website mentions a Courtallam Township Act, 1954 (Tamil Nadu Act XVI of 1954), and has seven other mentions of "Courtallam", not counting refereneces to "Courtallam Falls". The only mentions of "Courtalam" (one-l) are one in the District Profile to the water falls of Courtalam and several in the irrigation section discussing rivers that use the one-l version for the falls, the "Courtalam Hills" and an undefined place. The District Profile uses the one-l and the two-l in the same paragraph. So its seems that Tirunelveli District usage is not consistent. The 2001 population finder found no listing for Village: "Courtalam" but found two entries for Village: "Courtallam" namely:

  • Courtallam: 744 households, 2,842 people, 1,386 males, 1,456 females
  • Courtallam Slopes R.F.: 7 households, 22 people, 8 males, 14 females

and one entry for Town: Courtalam, namely:

  • Courtalam (TP): 496 households, 2,368 people, 964 males, 1,404 females

All of these were in Tenkasi taluk. So is seems that we should split the two articles based on consistent census data; however, it would be agreeable to have the ground relationship between the one-l version and the two-l version spelled out in a reliable source. --Bejnar (talk) 19:43, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Earlier, there were two pages - Courtalam and Courtallam. Courtalam was merged with Courtallam (see page history of Courtalam). From available information it appears that Courtallam and Courtalam are the same place with two spellings. For the time being, there does not appear to be a specific need for a separate Courtalam page. - Chandan Guha (talk) 06:46, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • As per above, no need of separate page. Redirects from Kutralam and Courtalam are good enough. VasuVR (talk, contribs) 04:49, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • I would suggest a seperate page for Courtallam and Courtallam Falls. Ddineshk (talk, contribs) 09:20, 25 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes, the article can be split into two. Coutrallam is a small village on in the Tenkasi district and has number of falls around it. Though each of the falls have individual names like Old Coutrallam falls, main falls, New coutrallam falls, Puli aruvi, sitraruvi, thenaruvi palzhathotta aruvi commonly they are all called as coutrallam. A split of the article i believe will give a clear picture to anyone who is referring to it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srvna2443 (talkcontribs) 12:24, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

In popular culture may be needed edit

Dear User:LogX, I undid the reversion for adding in popular culture after visiting pages such as Niagara Falls, Athirappilly Falls and many on Wikipedia itself, which contain information regarding the concerned place featuring in Film, Television and Literature as fiction or real. Hence User:Balablitz may be correct in adding the section. Also kindly see Category:Films by country of shooting location. Thank you. --14.99.78.104 (talk) 18:04, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's ok. But, if you pretend the topic to be in the article, please cite a source for that. --    L o g  X   18:09, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dear User:LogX, this is good. WP:AGF, U could have made this point in talk page first and if no response, u could have revert then. I now add the section with source. Thank you. --14.99.78.104 (talk) 18:27, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please go ahead! --    L o g  X   18:30, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dear 14.99.78.104 and User:LogX , thanks for restoring the section.--Balablitz (talk) 19:54, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

An encouraging start! The graphic images are pleasing, but in the current state, no more are needed. However, more references (specifically in-text citations), and content is needed though!! Try following this WP:WIAGA article as a guide. Good luck. Ncmvocalist 10:54, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
