Seeing as the Contemporary Art Gallery's aim is to introduce emerging artists to larger audiences, I felt it appropriate to list some artists that are still "red", but who certainly deserve to have their own pages (and will soon hopefully). Walkwithastagger (talk) 00:47, 9 July 2009 (UTC) ___ I've removed the line "is the only independent, non-profit public art gallery in downtown Vancouver.", as I think this is a dubious claim and sounds to me like it is written by CAG staff (much like the rest of this article, actually). If we are to include the Downtown-East side within the confines of "Downtown" Vancouver, we would have to acknowledge the presence of Centre A on Hastings St. Furthermore, many people would include Vancouver's publicly funded artist-run centres within the auspices of "public gallery". The artist-run Or Gallery still operates within what most would consider downtown Vancouver. Lastly, I wonder to what degree the CAG is more independent than, say, the Vancouver Art Gallery. I believe both organizations saw their origins with the city of Vancouver, and the CAG is still entrusted with the city's art collection. In any case, I think this sentence is hyperbolic and misleading. Leviathanbus (talk) 20:28, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
