Compugen

Based in Ontario, Canada
Satelitte Offices: Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton

Service:
Provide technically knowledable staff (on Contract) to Companies requiring immediate staffing (short-long term)

Payment to contractors:
You'll be asked how much for your services. GO HIGH!
If they really need you, they will agree to it, just so that they can show the company they are pawning you off to, they can deliver. If Compugen only requires brainless fill-ins they will say sorry thats too high, would you be willing to come down ($15 variable).
As a contractor you will also be required to submit your time weekly and expenses (if negotiated at time of contract). A word on travel expenses - charge your mileage from the moment you leave your home driveway if they vehicle is required for the work.
If the Compugen manager, says we expect and require you to have the vehicle at the clients site everyday "in the event your required to go somewhere" only trying to pay you for the mileage from the client site >> wherever >> clientsite. If you drive 50km/day to the client site and home, and on-demand 3km Tuesday, 4km Thursday, and 5km Friday, Compugen will attempt to only pay you for 3+4+5= 12km @ 0.35km = $4.00 for the week.

How much did it actually cost YOU?
50x5=250km + 12km = 262km and with an average vehicle (16L/100km @ $1.10 L = 42L x $1.10 = $44 gas - $4 paid by Compugen) YOU LOSE $40 !!
Parking may or may not be covered ($13/day)
Certainly NOT expensible are washer fluid, oil change, heaven forbid (it will happen) repair (ie. torn seat, flat tire, tie rod, transmision, etc..), and pray no accidents ( because YOUR NOT COVERED!)
In order to insure your vehicle for this use, you would have to buy extra "artisan/contractor use" insurance for your own policy (roughly $800-1500) Compugen will NOT pay for it!
Recommendation:
Don't use your vehicle for transporting goods, or even yourself when being used in a business reason, and your insurance company WILL ASK
"What were you doing at the time of the accident?"
- - - Their reply is, "Sorry but your not covered for that!"
Note:
The average personal accident injury claim has risen from $1.1 million to average $2.0 million in 2005. And if you don't have insurance, how will you pay the other party? Not to mention you'll NEVER get vehicle insurance for yourself again, unless you can afford $8-10 thousand dollar/yr insurance.
No company (except your own) is worth losing the ability to drive a vehicle, because you can't afford insurance (even with a clean record)

Staff:
The people hired by Compugen can vary from former jail-bird on parole, to highly skilled (personal experience seen both). In some cases a Police Security clearance will be required.

Management:
Can vary from proper, to improper and should be dismissed.
