Removal of external links edit

I just removed a lot of external links that were scattered throughout this article and listed in a big section at the end. Since it makes a big difference to the appearence of the page I wanted to let editors who are not used to Wikipedia's style know why. We have some guidelines on external links which make the listing of links to lots of related organizations inappropriate (this is also covered by our what wikipedia is not policy). Also, when we talk about references, we mean reliable sources that verify particular assertions in the article - they shouldn't simply be websites of the organizations mentioned. We might wikilink (that is link internally to a wikipedia article) from within the main body of the article, but we don't send people to non-wikimedia sites except to support our facts and in the external links section.
