To editor Hudson1521: I'm concerned that you've used Wikipedia to publish a school paper, which is not what we're doing here (per WP:SYNTH). For example, what is the Spanish-language translation for "Colombian displacement crisis"? What sources use those words to describe what's going on? If what you've done is frame events as a displacement crisis in Colombia and then you've made an argument using a variety of primary sources, then you should have taken your thesis to a periodical. Encyclopedias like this one summarize what secondary sources say about a subject which reliable sources already agree exist. To editor Ian (Wiki Ed): Why did you move this into the main namespace? @Chris troutman - I didn't move it. I strongly considered moving it back to userspace, but decided that despite the problems there's actually something here that struck me as being potentially of encyclopaedic value. I was initially concerned about the title, but the only thing that's questionable is the use of the word "crisis" in the article title. (It's obviously a crisis, but the specific sequence of words doesn't appear widely used. (Without quotes there's a lot about this, going back decades.)
The problem of internally displaced people in Colombia is definitely notable (and nothing new), as are the effects of the Venezuelan refugee crisis in Colombia. Dealing with the latter in the context of the former without bleeding into SYNTH could be a bit of a fine line to tread, but I don't see this problem arising here. My mistake in looking at the article history. I wish students used AfC rather than moving userspace drafts. I'm not interested enough to examine each and every source but this sort of writing should probably be avoided. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:31, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
