GFA BASIC edit

Section added. —Nils von Barth (nbarth) (talk) 12:40, 20 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

As mentioned, quite an old 'IDE' using CodeFolding is GFA BASIC, mentioned as '"collapse" a procedure' in the article Oyd11 22:05, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, as well as the famous old "Quick Basic" from Microsoft ;)

Token-based vs User-specified edit

Hello,

The section about conventions, talks about token-based and user-specified. But the fact is that token-based is the implementation of user-specified folding, so perhaps the page should just talks about user-specified, giving a note telling that user-specified use tokens inside the source.

In my own way of understanding things, there are two types of folding editors :

  • Passive folding (the editor generate folding automaticaly while parsing the code)
  • Active folding (the user decide what folding will be)

An editor may permit both (as do Leo, for which one I've just added a link in the bottom of the page)

What do you think about the remark concerning token-based vs user-specified ?

Regards,

While in a sense you're right, I still think they should be considered distinct from each other. Although I could understand changing the list so user-specified has two subsections: token-based and and anonymous, or something like that. -- Heptite (T) (C) (@) 06:05, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

User specified folding in Eclipse edit

The page states that user specified folding is a feature of eclipse. I haven't found it though. For java code, the only folding I have found is syntax based. No user specified, token based or intdention based folding as far as I have seen. Is the text on this wiki page really accurate? Are there any references that can verify this, if not, I think it should be removed? 89.253.76.62 (talk) 22:57, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Since noone has given any reference to other types of code folding in eclipse than syntax based, and I have searched and not found any code folding other than syntax based, I have changed the text on the page 89.253.76.62 (talk) 20:46, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

XCode token-based folding edit

In the table it lists XCode as having token-based folding as a feature, but as far as I'm aware that's not the case. What is the delimiter for this? --mikechen (talk) 03:32, 15 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Folding in Word Processors edit

It seems appropriate to me that there be mentions of the following facts:

  * Some word processors support (text) folding (but, because code is text, they also support code folding. Microsoft Word calls it (or, at least, used to call it) "collapsible outlining", which, I believe should be in the text so that it can be found during a search.
  * Libre / Free <something> Office supports the essentials of collapsible outlining by providing a feature that displays only the headings of a document at various levels.
