Are there references to Code Camp in published or online sources that meet WP:V? betsythedevine (talk) 04:49, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

There are plenty of references and sources, however, some disagree with the article as it currently stands. For instance, I found descriptions of a 2004 Orange Code Camp in France[1][2] which took place prior to the first BarCamp. The article doesn't say how much admission was that year, but the registration fee for the 2005 camp was €450,[3] at odds with the statement that Code Camps are always free.
Given that they've been held all over the world (from France to Ottawa[4] to Australia[5] to Boise, ID[6] to Silicon Valley[7]), I definitely think that the topic is notable, but this may or may not be the right start for this article.

Thanks, Dori, that was enlightening. I only ended up looking at this because somebody placed a link to it from Unconference, an article on my watchlist that has been a target for promotional efforts in the past. I hope somebody will improve this article; you've made some good raw material available. betsythedevine (talk) 00:06, 20 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

A simple google search confirms that there are very many different formats out there that are competing for the term CodeCamp and although quite a few of them are related to Microsoft I fail to see how these events are sufficiently different from the BarCamp/Unconference/HackDay concepts to justify an article. Code Camp was, as far as I know, invented in early 2004 by Thom Robbins of Microsoft New England. Someone interested in doing a proper writeup of this topic should track him down and talk to him about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.239.49.21 (talk) 19:15, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Editorial problem: sentence fragment edit

Originally begun as a Microsoft-slanted take on barcamp, but not strictly limited to the Microsoft Windows or .NET platforms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2620:0:1000:2003:81B9:DF2F:C184:232F (talk) 16:51, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sentence fragment edit

The second sentence isn't quite a sentence:

"Originally begun as a Microsoft-slanted take on barcamp, but not strictly limited to the Microsoft Windows or .NET platforms." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2620:0:1000:2003:81B9:DF2F:C184:232F (talk) 16:53, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Microsoft edit

While you are "not strictly limited to the Microsoft Windows or .NET platforms" a code camp is very Microsoft focused. They will lure you into a talk about some open-source tool but then only tell you how to do stuff with it using Windows-based products. The Microsoft promotion was very contrived to the point where I wondered whether presenters are told to mention some Microsoft product like Azure, C#, or similar. List of code camps edit

Please stop removing the list of Code camps. The website containing the list does not have the full list of code camp nor does it include other info on the code camps. I'm working on building this list with more accurate infomation I'm trying to obtain from the code camp organizers and the code camps I have trying to visit personally

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kishawy (talkcontribs) 17:25, 27 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
