Ancien régime flag edit

Flag of the Bernese Oberland edit
This flag is in widespread use in the Oberland, can e.g. be seen on the bridges of Thun during summer and appears on the bow of the MS Berner Oberland on Lake Thun. --130.92.9.58 15:08, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hello. If such a flag exists, I have no problem with mentioning it in the article. Unfortunately, our policy of verifiability requires that all content be referenced to reliable published sources. Please read these two pages. Can you provide a citation to a book or a newspaper article that describes this flag and its use? If not, we will have to remove this content. (N.B.: I am Bernese, and I am often in the Oberland, and I have never seen this flag.) Sandstein 15:15, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- Then you must not have looked very closely ;-). During summer, the flag is flown on all bridges over the Äussere Aare in the town centre of Thun - saw them again this very morning. Its appearance on the bow of the MS Berner Oberland should provide further evidence for its legitimity. Upon further research, I also found two more independent depictions of the coat of arms/flag here and here.
- That said, I am quite surprised that so little information on the flag is available online - the GIF to which I linked seems to be one of only very few pics available. I recall having seen something on it in the "Armorial du Canton de Berne", but will need to check that at home. --130.92.9.58 15:31, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Proposal: Move to "Coat of arms of Berne" edit
The article currently says that The flag of Berne is square and depicts the coat of arms. This is true for all cantons: see Flags of Swiss cantons. And since the article discusses only the coat of arms and the bear that features on it, I suggest that this article be moved to Coat of arms of Berne, in keeping with other CoA articles. - 52 Pickup (talk) 12:24, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
