Ship find verification

I've started adding information on Cussler's shipwreck finds to the respective articles, each with a link to the NUMA webpage that describes it. The NUMA site doesn't meet Wikipedia's standards for verifiability, though, so I'm forced to couch the info in language like "Cussler claims...." I am currently eading RAISING THE HUNLEY and it is stated that the CSS HUNLEY is a misnomer as the ship was built as a privaterr, and was never commissioned.

Birthplace

There seems to be just about equal representation on the web that place Clive Cussler's birthplace either in Aurora, Illinois or in Alhambra California. It seems likely to me that the articles referencing Alhambra mistakenly placed his birthplace there because he mentions that he grew up there as a boy. I decided on a couple of websites to reference that place his birthplace in Illinois though they are far from definitive. --Ulysses411 00:09, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt Revealed is mentioned in the bibliography twice, but is never used as a reference. Revealed has a lot of valuable information- his place of birth is Aurora, Illinois and he is and Eagle Scout. Life imitating art

The paragraph starting "Cussler's work in marine exploration has often raised eyebrows and tempers alike..." (at least in this edit ), seems to me to be filled with weasel words and internal contradictions. There may be some truth to it but it at least needs a rewrite. The novels listed are a repeat of the last five novels listed in the previous section. Cinematization dispute

I'm going to raise this via WP:3. An unregistered individual has removed a substantial portion of the cinematization section on two occasions. It's not obvious to me that there was a violation of policies here. The IP address seems to suggest that the person who did the edits may be the very subject of the article, or someone related to him. --Itinerant1 (talk) 06:18, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Metric System

I remember trying to read a copy of Inca Gold but being unable to because every distance was rendered in both English and metric units. Is this specific to that work, or does he do this in all his novels? Mistake.

Nonsense

The "Yogi Mantle" section that mentioned a 'bear documentary' (as well as a homosexual innuendo) was not only unsourced, but completely innappropriate. Very rosy view

The article presents a very rosy view of the author.

There is no mention that a jury found he had misrepresented his readership by 250%: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/book-publishers-will-escape-legal-650628. Degree

The claim that the author was awarded a doctorate by an accredited university for publishing a non-fiction book seems incredible. The reference given for the information is the author's own website.

However, the university web site acknowledges the degree though not why it was granted. This would be a better source for the information.

Second wife

In the section "Personal life," there's no mention of Cussler's second wife Janet Horvath. Why?

Granted, they've kept the date of their marriage a secret and that his kids were not in favor of it, but is that any reason not to mention her?

She was mentioned as a fiance in a 16 May 2007 article when the court battle over the "Sahara" movie ended and mentioned as his wife in a 2 June 2010 article.2600:8800:50B:6700:C23F:D5FF:FEC5:89B6 (talk) 09:16, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Editor of a book

Cussler is the "editor of record" for the book "Thriller 2: Stories You Just Can't Put Down" (506 pages) published by MIRA in 2009 (ISBN-13: 978-0-7783-2723-3) yet the book is not listed among his works. Why?

Cable TV series

Why no mention of the USA network / National Geographic International Television series "Clive Cussler's The Sea Hunters: True Adventures with Famous Shipwrecks"? Especially since it ran for FIVE seasons and was seen in 172 countries?

Granted, Cussler only did the episode intros and wrap-ups and James P. Delgado did the onsite "reporting," is that any reason not to mention the series?

Also, Delgado wrote a book, "Adventures of a Sea Hunter: In Search of Famous Shipwrecks" (published by Douglas & McIntyre, 2004, ISBN 1-55365-071-9; AKA "In Search of Famous Shipwrecks: Adventures of a Sea Hunter" published by MJF Books, 2004, ISBN-13: 978-1-56731-893-7, ISBN-10: 1-56731-893-2) which is "based on 'Sea Hunters' episodes and on Delgado's own underwater explorations" [quote is from dust jacket blurb]. And, Cussler wrote the book's Forward.

Couldn't someone find a better picture/photo of Cussler?

In no way does the current one do him any justice. That is NOT how he normally appears. I've been to numerous book signings of his and he's NEVER looked that bad.
