IMSA/WEC table
edit@OckRaz: I appreciate what you're doing in adding the tables in, but can you please not use the ugly purple boxes alternating with the default coloured ones? Not only is it horrendously bad to look at, it is a MOS:ACCESS violation. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 15:16, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
Also, we don't need separate links for the track and the event in the same table section for IMSA. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 15:21, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
Splitting
editAs of this edit, this article is now at #2 at Special:LongPages. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 00:02, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
- The results tables seem to be the biggest culprits. Maybe those should be split onto a separate article (or articles) à la Category:Formula One constructor results? Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 22:32, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
- I think the entire NASCAR Cup section should be split. It's roughly half the page. Onetwothreeip (talk) 22:37, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
- I agree with Spyder_Monkey. Music artists with extensive discographies have those split off before anything else. If we split the NASCAR side from the rest of the article, then we must consider the same to Team Penske as well. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 23:36, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
- We can also split the pre-2001 NASCAR History into a Team SABCO-specific article. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 23:39, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
- The same should happen at Team Penske as well. Onetwothreeip (talk) 02:58, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- @GhostOfDanGurney: Within NASCAR, is Chip Ganassi better known as Team SABCO or as Chip Ganassi? Onetwothreeip (talk) 06:14, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Onetwothreeip: Team SABCO is the name of the team owned by Felix Sabates from 1989 until the end of 2000. After the 2000 season, Chip Ganassi Racing bought a majority stake in Team SABCO and the two operations merged into the present Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates and have a shared history. Because of this, Team SABCO currently exists as a redirect to this article. Having had a couple of days to think about it, I agree that the NASCAR sections of this article, and the Team Penske article should be split into Chip Ganassi Racing (NASCAR) and Team Penske (NASCAR), respectively. I also still think that Team SABCO should get it's own article. I feel it would pass notability on it's own, as Kyle Petty won a handful of races for the team and the No. 42 Mello Yello car he drove for them has been described by at least one source as "iconic". GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 10:13, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- I've started the Chip Ganassi Racing NASCAR article. I generally agree that the SABCO parts can also be split into another article. It's not really about notability so much as how much should be put on one page. Onetwothreeip (talk) 01:06, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- I think the entire NASCAR Cup section should be split. It's roughly half the page. Onetwothreeip (talk) 22:37, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
Should DEI wins count towards CGR win total?
editSomething that I have always wondered: should DEI wins be counted towards CGR win total? At least the once in the cup series? Or would that just be a can of worms, so to speak, to open? The reason I bring it up is because, as well documented, CGR & DEI merged in 2009, and other than DEI's engine department joining RCR, DEI never compited afterwards. So, to me, that would be like SABCO becoming CGR. I'm just asking. HotMAN0199 04:53, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- No. As sourced in the lead paragraph, Theresa Earnhardt was never truly a part of the combined entity. The status quo is correct. SABCO's history is counted here because Chip Ganassi bought into that team and renamed it. DEI's Cup Series history ends after 2008. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 13:32, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
