• New enough, long enough. It's within policy. The hooks are nice, I especially like ALT 1, but the sentences in the article that support them need inline citations. The image is fine. • @Yakikaki: I've added a QPQ. I don't see anywhere that an in-line citation is needed. All of the specific points are followed closely by sources, and the sources don't need to be right after the punctuation per WP:CITEDENSE. No old growth forests is to [1] and the cold desert to [3][4]. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 23:33, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

• @The Squirrel Conspiracy: Thanks a lot for quickly looking at this and getting back to me. We can tick off the QPQ, but I'm afraid you'll still have to supply the inline citations. You're absolutely correct in that it's not a general requirement on Wikipedia, but WP:DYKRULES are quite clear that "Each fact in the hook must be supported in the article by at least one inline citation to a reliable source, appearing no later than the end of the sentence(s) offering that fact. Citations at the end of the paragraph are not sufficient. This rule applies even when a citation would not be required for the purposes of the article." So for the purpose of DYK, it would need to be added before I can pass the nomination. By the way, I forgot to say - I enjoyed reading the article and think it's a nice and important addition to Wikipedia. Yakikaki (talk) 08:58, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

• @The Squirrel Conspiracy: There's still an inline citation to a reliable source missing after the sentence "The climate in the surrounding region is Cold desert climate (Köppen climate classification (BWk))." for ALT1. I suspect sources 3 and 4 would be used to support this claim but I think that's a bit shaky. Source 4 I don't understand how I'm supposed to interpret at all, source 3 has a map that does seem to indicate that most of these woodlands are located in that climate type, but there is no explicit claim anywhere linking the two together. I would prefer a more clearly worded source here, or a change in the wording to "much of the surrounding region" or something like that. Also, ALT1 is a little bit misleading. While these woodlands seem to be located in a climate zone called "Cold desert climate", I read on the WWF page that the woodlands themselves are actually threatened by desertification, so they're clearly not "deserts" themselves. But for the sake of hookiness I guess it could pass, especially since you've wikilinked "cold desert" to the right Köppen climate type. On the other hand, if you want we can drop ALT1 and I can give the green light to the original hook. Yakikaki (talk) 20:10, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

(←) @Yakikaki: Let's just drop ALT1. I'm not the article author, I'm just trying to get underrepresented regions to DYK. I assume the retrieved dates are because the author grabbed the sources once and has been making articles from them ever since. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 21:50, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
