Usage

What's with the "it is improper to use the expression" line at the bottom? It doesn't describe why it's improper. Removed, unless someone wants to add in why it was improper. Zchris87v 06:52, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm fairly sure that the reason it was like that was because Captain Morgan specifically was a sailor, and it is insulting to refer to a sailor as a pilot or driver, I suppose. Though I suppose the point is moot not :) AC 14:48, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Sugar content?

Of course this rum is sweetened. It has around 22g/L sugar added. A liqueur may only be called as such if it contains at least 100g/L. Schlimmerdurst (talk) 19:45, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Yes, I have tried to make changes to the article to reflect the conviction of a man in Delaware for pouring the beverage on an electric burner and killing three people. This is a historical and judicial fact. But my addition is continually removed. Fact or not, it doesn't belong on Wikipedia. Please see WP:UNDUE and WP:NPOV. The section you insist on adding reads like an attack on the company. Not to mention that this info doesn't help the reader understand the company. Please cease from adding this content, and discuss the matter further if you think it deserves inclusion here. De-advertising this article: History section first

I think it is not necessary to mention about Henry Morgan any more in this article, since he has no real relationship with the rum.

To say, only the following in that section is relevant and reliable:

In 1944, the Seagram Company started producing rum under the name Captain Morgan Rum Company.

In 1983, Captain Morgan Original Spiced rum was introduced to the United States.

Captain Morgan is now produced by The Diageo Corporation.

Captain Morgan Spiced Gold

The international part of Captain Morgan's official website has a product called "Captain Morgan Spiced Gold". ( http://www.captainmorgan.com/en-row/Rums/RumsDetail_spicedgold?keyword=SpiceGold )

Quote: Morgan's Spiced offers the same great taste of Original Spiced Gold as sold in Scotland and the United Kingdom.

Is this another product, or just another name for Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum? I'm from Germany, where Original Spiced isn't available, but Spiced Gold is a perfect substitute. By the way, it seems the name of Original Spiced in the UK isn't "Original Spiced Rum", but "Original Spiced Gold". Why? 86.56.34.161 (talk) 10:41, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Proof vs. abv

Listing alcohol content by proof is archaic and ambiguous. Can anyone be bothered to update it to show abv values? Or does anyone think we shouldn't? Black Label?

Under "Varieties" the list names "Black Label" in this line:
"Deluxe Dark - More expensive than Black Label."

@EdgarCabreraFariña: regarding Special:Diff/679089703 I titled it "influence on culture" because your rum and mascot being popular enough to make the face of the WWE for the past decade make multiple references to it to berate the company's current champion is a big deal.

Raw is not merely widely-watched for wrestling fans, it's widely-watched period.

Origin

Why is United States Virgin Islands listed as the drink's origin? It states quite clearly that it originated in Kingston, Jamaica circa 1944.

The Virgin Islands only appears in the current history of Captain Morgan because Diageo moved operations there in 2010. It's misleading otherwise. What's up with that? Pounamuknight (talk)23:49, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
