The Canada Media Fund is a not-for-profit organization that was created by the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Canadian Cable industry. Its mandate is to give money away (more than $350 million CAN this year). This article is necessary to prevent misconception or for someone else to come along and write a potentially misleading article about us, as our process has come under fire from special interest groups in the past. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not a platform for commercial use. That said, informative, neutral articles on organizations can exist here if they are properly referenced by third-party sources. This one is not- if the article is to be kept, it needs to be rewritten with reliable media sources. ALI nom nom 17:57, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Specifically, the reference to an external pdf link and also to a speech by a government minister via their home page. And no, this page is not the government: The Canada Media Fund is a private-public partnership, not a goverment agency.Jpindi (talk) 18:43, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've cut out most of the content, not for being promotional, but for violating copyright. Most of it was borrowed from various subpages of http://www.cmf-fmc.ca/, for example, the "about us" page Hairhorn (talk) 21:38, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
The history section provided minimal context for the development of the fund through the previous funding programs, where I added the preceding funds that lead to the current fund's inception. Information was retrieved from [1].
