Veganism 'allegation'
"allegations that she was brought up as a vegan are wrong". Any source on this? I've changed 'allegations' as that implies a belief that veganism is a bad thing, which clearly isn't NPOV. I'll remove the 'vegans' category tag as well, in case it's incorrect.
2006 Logie Awards
Does anyone else think that she has a chance to win a logie for "Best Female New Talent" in the 2006 TV Week Logies? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Neoballmon (talk • contribs) .
- You like her a lot hey? ;) We met yesterday at the John Howard article remember :) Being a local from Geelong myself, and as you mentioned Caitlin being a local as well, I wish her all the best. I don't watch much television though sorry, and haven't witnessed any of her performances. -- Longhair 08:46, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I do!! I would say that I am one of her biggest fans. Nice to meet someone from Geelong on here, its a shame you didnt know her when she was still in Geelong. Also, Are you following me around on here or something? Half the names on my watchlist are Longhair. Sorry about not signing my last message by the way, I just forgot to. --neoballmon 16:58, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- No, I'm not following you. I will admit though I did give you a glance when your John Howard edit came to my attention, but let's put that down to a bad day hey? You probably watch high profile Australian articles, and I'd just finished mopping up a lot of vandalism at the time I replied here. Either that, or we hang out at the same places ;) -- Longhair 22:31, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Caitlin Stasey is good actress and has a very charming personality in real life as all Tuareans have. 'The preceding unsigned comment was added by Longhair|
Someone taking our work???
I have reason to believe that a certain web site (http://imlegal.com/index.php?name=Caitlin%20Stasey) has taken the Caitlin Stasey image from Wikipedia and used it as their own. I say this because the file name is exactly the same, so it would have to be a huge coincidence. If I am wrong, I sincerely apologise, but I urge the creative control of Wikipedia to take a look at this fascinating discovery.
- Looks like that site's gone and died. RandomEcho 11:43, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Overkill on pictures
Is there a Wikipedia policy on how many pictures to use? I say this because it really is an overkill on this page. I have removed two pictures which were clear copyright violations. I also beleive that the excessive use of TV screen shots is a violation of Channel 10's copyright. Comments anyone? Dankru 14:07, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- How many before it starts looking like a fan page with vidcaps? RandomEcho 14:08, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- I believe Wikipedia policy is one vidcap per page. So I think this one goes way over. You're right in that it looks like a fan page.Dankru 05:05, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'd say one from Neighbours, the 'happy' pic from Brainiest Neighbour, and one from the Qantas commercial would be enough.
no. of photos
This article is not very large, yet has two photos. I believe that until it is a couple more sections long it should only contain one photo. Please decide on one. Wikipedia is not a collection of pictures. Xtra 10:34, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Australia's Brainiest Neighbour
I could have sworn that Nell Feeney was the person who came second, not Caitlyn. Isn't that right? Hardcore gamer 48 09:44, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Whoops! Both came in second, not just one... my bad! :) Hardcore gamer 48 02:09, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
New Sleepover Club
Should the date on the 'New Sleepover Club' appearance for Caitlin be changed to 2007, taken off completely, or did it actually air last year, and I ended up missing it? Neoballmon II 11:42, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Football Team
I think the football team she supports is a matter of some contention (at least it's changed a few times recently) and therefore as no one has provided a reference I have removed it from the article. Please put it back in if you can cite a reference.DAylen 23:10, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- She supports Norwich. Her relations in England live in Norwich. She has mentioned this in at least two television interviews I have seen. One was on the BBC site, but they took the interviews down when they stopped doing their own Neighbours website. There is a picture of her at a Norwich match wearing a Norwich scarf on her myspace. Fair use rationale for Image:RachelKinskiNeighbours.jpg
Image:RachelKinskiNeighbours.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Place of birth
Someone has changed her place of birth back to Geelong, this is NOT correct and in fact is an error that isn't backed up by any website not edited by fans, so wiki is the citation for IMDB IMDB is the citation for wiki, please could you put the previous version back as the info came from Caitlin herself when she edited a bio on an online magazine. Between birth and living in Australia again she has lived in plenty of other countries, including the UK and Dubai (UAE) which was where her sister was born —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.250.142 (talk) 23:23, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Ethnic Background?
Just a general question here, What ethnic background is Caitlin from? My sister always argued that she's part Italian... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.134.148.116 (talk) 21:29, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Her step father is Italian, so she herself is not part Italian —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.250.142 (talk) 23:19, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Quite a few sources suggest that she's of partial indigenous Australian ancestry, but I'm not sure if she's confirmed or denied this.--MartinUK (talk) 23:22, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- What sources? If they're reliable enough, they could go in. Ged UK (talk) 16:06, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Tomorrow, When the War Began
I have added some details about this movie from the Tomorrow, When the War Began article. The movie citations still need a 'little' work. I took a few tries to get them anywhere near right. Anyone who wants to, please fix em up!
This whole article needs work in this area as there are only currently ONLY 2 citations apart from the 4 movies ones. ANY info. must be verifiable especially in biographical data for living people!--220.101.28.25 (talk) 13:29, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Distasteful Comment
I have removed the following comment from the filmography section. It is distasteful and disrespectful: 'In addition to these movies, Stasey is also extremely hot. Indefinably hot. After the appearance of the trailor for Tomorrow When the World Began, men from all over Australia remembered Stasey as the young girl, Rachel, from Neighbours and the promise that they made to themselves, namely, "Remeber 'Caitlin Stasey'; she's going to be so hot when she's older".' —Preceding unsigned comment added by SamScandal (talk • contribs) 05:52, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
How can she be a lesbian is she has a boyfriend?
Surely she is bisexual? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.244.5.39 (talk) 22:42, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- She refers to herself as a lesbian here [[2]]. This is a very recent source, and comes directly from from a quote. If she refers to herself as a lesbian, then she is. Deunanknute (talk) 18:56, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- She has also referred to herself as bisexual and pansexual as recently as a couple months ago. I think this article should make it clear to the reader that Stasey has a tendency to change her sexual orientation with nearly every interview she gives. Including her in the lesbian category and not in the other categories that she has identified with is therefore misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.6.115.29 (talk) 23:07, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Maybe that could be said in a different line, with a proper source. As it stands, she is a lesbian right now and that is what the article should say. Deunanknute (talk) 23:14, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- Would you also list her as black here if she self-identified as black? This is ridiculous and offensive to actual lesbians. She is in a long-term relationship with a man, sleeps with men, and therefore cannot be a lesbian. The label "lesbian" does not leave room for attraction to men. Just because she is too stupid to understand this doesn't mean the rest of the world should indulge her delusions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.103.112.213 (talk) 23:56, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
- MOS:IDENTITY is the appropriate guideline for this case. And, of course, as Deunanknute said, WP:V. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 05:45, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- "When there is a discrepancy between the term most commonly used by reliable sources for a person or group and the term that person or group uses for themselves, Wikipedia should use the term that is most commonly used by reliable sources". There you go. The only person who refers to Caitlin as a lesbian is herself, (for obvious reasons). Again, if she self-identified as an Eskimo or a Martian would that accepted as the truth? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.103.112.213 (talk) 16:12, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
- Next bullet point is the appropriate part. "An exception to the above is made for terms relating to gender identity. In such cases, Wikipedia favors self-designation, even when usage by reliable sources indicates otherwise." Deunanknute (talk) 16:24, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
- Gender identity and sexual orientation are completely different things. I also believe in any intellectual source, there should be a specified difference between sexual identity and sexual orientation as well, as those are also completely different things. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:304:CDB6:8730:8922:5B62:5F9D:43ED (talk) 01:40, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed. Gender identity has nothing to do with sexual orientation. Gender identity refers to transexuals, and they probably get special treatment in this case because the world will often view them based solely on their outer appearances and birth-sex. But that has nothing to do with Caitlin Stasey trying to redefine the word "lesbian".
Per Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies/Guidelines:
3. Identification and categorization of people is bound by Wikipedia's policy on Biographies of Living Persons (BLPs). To add content on a person's religion, sexuality and gender variance you need reliable sourcing. After taking that into account: a. A living person may be categorized and identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) only if they themselves publicly identify as such, e.g., Billie Joe Armstrong.
