New crest deleted?

The strips

I've done a basic colour edit in line with the new 2007-2008 kits, but they look a bit dull. Any suggestions for improvements would be welcome Threepennybithead 13:36, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Famous Players
Someone keeps adding players to this list, players who have never played in the top flight with the clarets - and in some cases with other clubs either - or players who perhaps played for the club for a short spell at the end of their careers. Obviously those responsible are Claret fans who've never seen the club play in the top flight, or worse, our own Burnley clowns.
"Past and present internationals" section

Wrong flag beside Owen Coyles name

Owen Coyle is Irish
Owen Coyle is was born is Scotland, but represented the Republic of Ireland at the International level. In circumstances like this it common place to regard the person as nationally from the countrt they represented - not the countrt they were born in. Someone keeps on reverting Coyle's nationallity: they must stop this! I don't know if they are well intentioned or not - but if they want to start a debate about this then they should do so - constantly reverting his flag smacks ov vandalism.RicoRichmond (talk) 17:19, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- Owen Coyle is not Irish, he is Scottish. Ask him what nationality he is; I can guarantee you he would say Scottish. Whoever changes the flag to a Scottish flag is only trying to make Wikipedia more accurate. BigDom (talk) 14:46, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Owen Coyle was born in Paisley Scotland and the flags in the Management Team selection indicate their place of birth - several others listed and flagged did not play internationally. If Owen was playing for Burnley then his Irish caps would be relevant in the players section. I think you have this wrong but it is an editorial policy issue that will affect all football clubs in wiki. He did play and score for the Reserve team last year but this probably wouldn't merit listing him in the players section as Irish or would it? Howard McNulty 9/8/09

The flag shows nationality. he is scotish, he was born in scotland. Passports are not issued on the basis of national football team selection. He is scotish. Any more changes can only be considered vandalism. --Childzy ¤ Talk 13:46, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Recentism
About two fifths of the material in the History section deals with events from 2004 onwards. Bearing in mind that Burnley are one of the oldest football clubs in the world, this is a ridiculous bias towards recent events. I think it would be great if someone who really knows about the history of this fine old English institution (rather than just what happened to them in the last couple of years), could rework the article to give a more intelligent historical perspective. Is the phrase "home soil" a common British sporting term? I have never seen the phrase used in American sports reporting; usually the term home field (or pitch} is used.Wkharrisjr (talk) 03:13, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

I think that avoid this section being recentist that the club records shouldn't have the goal-scoring and appearance records for the current squad, rather it should have the all-time records. Dancarney (talk) 09:52, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Link via Brendan Flood and iSoft to the UK NHS NPfIT/CfH disaster
It is complicated, and one must be careful, but there is an unfortunate linkage via a large loan which suddenly required repayment to the UK health service computer project which is currently being admitted to have fallen over in chaos and dissipation of money. Squad table format
A discussion is being held here on the possibility of rolling out a new squad template. The new template, named {{football squad player2}}, differs from the standard squad layout in several ways:
- It features a sort function
- Comes in a single column format that can be understood by screen readers.
- Single column format ensures that low resolution browsers, including mobile devices, do not get part or all of the second column cut off.
- Single column format ensures less clutter, particularly at lower resolutions, for wide sections such as the Arsenal loan section.
- It gives nationality its own column; at present flags are featured in a blank, untitled column
- It complies with Wikipedia's guidance on flag usage.
- It leaves enough space to add images of current players, an example of which can be seen at Watford F.C#Current squad.
It is proposed that the new template be added to some of Wikipedia's most high-profile club articles, which might include Burnley F.C.. To give your thoughts, please read and contribute to the discussion at WikiProject Football.
