When it was pointed out that some Falklanders were not allowed to enter Britain, the then Conservative government
said that they would take illegal action and let the banned Falklanders in anyway. Whitelaw also said that
the 1983 law would be passed, to regularise the situation. The partial ban reduced the strength of Britain's claim to the
Falklands.
The use of circumlocutions in bans on coloured immigration into Britain was the cause of the ban on some Falkanders.
