Corporate Advertising Posing as Encyclopedic Entry edit

Why are some "technical corporation" pages allowed and others removed?

B&W is just one of hundreds of loudspeaker manufacturers on the planet.

I'm not sure why ANY coporate entity is allowed to posture on Wiki - except for those rare corporations that any have some true encyclopedic interest, such as IBM. 66.82.9.61 15:01, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Can you explain what you mean exactly with 'encyclopedic interest' and why it should go for a computer company and not for a hifi company? If you look in wikipedia at -for example- game consoles, you will find an enormous amount of product and company entries. Robot1981 (talk) 20:43, 11 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I notice that there is no mention of Wilkins??

Wouldn't it be better to restructure this page according to -for example- the KEF page structure and focus on more factual/historical information instead of product specifications? Robot1981 (talk) 20:43, 11 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Product section edit

Added a product section in line with other similar manufacturers, it is thin on the ground but I didn't want it to read like a catalogue. Let me know what you think.RoyalBlueStuey (talk)

Close paraphrasing edit

Much of this article seems to have been closely paraphrased from B&W's website. David1217 What I've done 17:17, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've removed/re-written some material which was pretty much verbatim from http://www.bowersandwilkins.co.uk/our%20history.html. In my view the remaining material in some parts of the Technology, research & development section does show some close paraphrasing from http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Discover/Discover/Technologies/Overview.html and and its sub-pages, but not enough to constitute a copyright violation. However, editors here should work on improving and re-writing it. The material also needs to be properly sourced with inline citations. Voceditenore (talk) 10:43, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Rotel edit

The introductory text claims ″Currently, B&W, while still based in Worthing, is part of the B&W Group Ltd., which also includes audio equipment manufacturers Rotel and Classé.″ However Rotel is only in a strategic alliance with B&W and is not owned/ran by the B&W Group. It still operates as an independent family business.

I think B&W has been sold to some Silicon Valley start up computer company! edit

I'm not sure how true this is but I think B&W has been sold to some newly computer tech company from Silicon Valley [1], can someone with concise information confirm this so that we can add it to the page?Bobbyshabangu talk 20:00, 3 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
