Edit
editI plan to edit this page and write up some more information/details about the importance of the Bourbon Reforms and its affect on Spanish history and Western Civilization.
What about the Philippines?
editThis article talks about Spain and Spanish America but doesn't mention the Philippines or Guam. I assume add a sentence or paragraph or two. --Bruce Hall (talk) 05:13, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

sentence needs re-writing
edit2nd para, section Catholic Church states 'The Catholic Church came about as a religious and political entity in the Iberian Peninsula in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries' which doesn't make sense as written. Bad paraphrasing? Please address and correct.50.111.45.222 (talk) 02:37, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
Ambiguity in the term "its neighbor"
editIn the sentences "The Spanish were caught in an ever tightening noose of imperial rivalry abroad with the British, the French, and the Portuguese. They were all fighting for domination in the Atlantic trade. Spain's problems with its neighbor were the biggest concern, and the Spanish Bourbons made constant short-term adjustments to colonial and increasingly, continental war-making." the singular "neighbor" is problematic, as both Portugal and France are adjacent and both have also been mentioned in the prior sentence. Since the Spanish throne was held by the French, the reference is presumably to Portugal but someone with proper knowledge of the rationale for this statement should edit this for clarity.
