Word "village" edit

Please note that the word village does not apply to most crofting townships. As in England, the term village refers to the township at which the local church is located- though generally in Highland English the Gaelic word "clachan" is used for small villages. In Highland (Gaidhealtachd) English the term "village" is generally reserved for small towns. On Skye, only Port Righ, Ath Leathainn and Caol Acainn are generally referred to as villages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.132.82.253 (talk) 22:34, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
