Article illustration edit

I have been researching Bordertown in order to improve the series article. Before working on the article itself I started by changing the illustration, since the old illustration, the cover of the complete series DVD set, has an odd image of a saloon girl and a couple of gunfighters, which has no relation to the actual television series. I uploaded an older DVD cover, which has a photograph of the three main series characters. My thought was that those coming to read about the series would be helped by seeing who was on the show.

Today I returned to the article and saw that Aspects had reverted the illustration back to the complete series DVD cover, which does not show anyone who has ever been on the series. I would be interested in knowing what others thought about how this article should be illustrated. Would you prefer an illustration showing the main characters, or one that shows the complete series DVD cover? Karenthewriter (talk) 02:24, 14 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I added back the file because at the time it was in a maintenance category for having information in image-related fields without having an image. At that time, the new file was marked for a speedy deletion in one week, so I added back the original file. A bot had removed the new file and tagged it for deletion.
Normally I would argue that a complete series cover would be preferable to a season cover, but the new cover is not even an entire season, but just a series of episodes. I understand liking the new file with the images of the main characters, as opposed to the complete series cover having images not really related to the show. Perhaps a title card like Template:Infobox television suggests or the show's logo would be acceptable. Aspects (talk) 21:35, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Aspects I don't know how to get a good image of the Bordertown logo. And if I did find one, it would be copyrighted, and I couldn't say it was a video cover, and thus allowable under certain circumstances. I'm not up to researching how to use a logo on Wikipedia.
I have done a lot of research in anticipation of improving this article and adding good references, but I so strongly dislike the complete series DVD cover that I literally can't bring myself to work on it with that illustration. I once belonged to a Yahoo Bordertown group (before Yahoo ended such groups) and when the long-awaited complete series set came out every member of the group had complaints about that cover. (I made a new cover for my own Bordertown DVD set.)
Thank you for replying to my enquiry, I'm sure your reasoning is sound. I will allow my new DVD cover photo to be deleted for being an orphan. I will not edit war over this, I'll just move on to other projects. Karenthewriter (talk) 01:49, 17 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have recently discovered a Bordertown & Gold DVD set, which contains all 78 Bordertown episodes. I have uploaded the cropped DVD cover which is illustrated by the Bordertown series cast (the bottom half of cover illustrates Gold). I hope that this will be acceptable as an illustration. The previous DVD cover I uploaded did not represent the entire series, but this cover is for a set with all episodes. Karenthewriter (talk) 00:26, 25 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
My new illustration was removed from this article, but at least the dreadful old DVD cover was not put back up. I will continue researching to improve the article, and as long as the "saloon girl / gunfighter DVD cover" (which has nothing at all to do with the family-friendly series) is not on the article I will feel comfortable working to improve the content. I updated a better version of the series cover. Awaiting bot reduction. Wyliepedia @ 03:08, 26 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is most definitely a better version, and I am so very pleased with it. Karenthewriter (talk) 14:58, 26 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
