My recent edit had the edit summary "removed", and nothing else. This was a result of accidentally pressing enter. Pruning

I have been pruning this disambig page, recently, to remove entries that don't belong (specifically, links to non-articles, or terms not mentioned in articles). I restored the link to the book publishing industry, regardless if that page doesn't mention "book world", specifically (which can be easily added--like now); the obvious reference to the book publishing industry is enough to warrant inclusion of this link. As for your removal of this entry, I feel it should be moved here until an article can be created.

With regard to the book fair entry, that seems fine to me! As I mentioned in my edit summary, I have no prejudice against including it if and when an article is created. As far as the "book publishing industry" entry is concerned, I'm still not sure. True, the words can be added to the article, but I must say that I've never heard the term used to refer to the book publishing industry before. Therefore, I would like to seek a broader consensus here. (I certainly don't want to start an edit war.) For me, the change seems problematic if book world is not a commonly used to refer to the book publishing industry, since then no one will be searching for that article with book world, and the entry will only further clutter the DAB page. (I can't really be sure that the term isn't in wide use this way and I just haven't hear it, thus I'm seeking broader consensus.) Also, the change to the article might be original research, if you are the first, or nearly first person to refer to the publishing industry in this way. Um, do a search for "book world" on Wikipedia (or Google) and you'll find most references are to "comic book world" but also to the "general" book world. Now, what do you think "book world" is referring to? Perhaps, radio? Movies? Television, maybe? No, obviously, of course not. Now, obviously, the phrase is a euphemism/metaphor and not literally meant to be a world of books but a representation (hence why it's a metaphor) of the book publishing industry (and can also include book distribution, book reviewers, book consumers/readers/whatever, etc. However you want to word it--I don't care, but the phrase "book world" is used to refer to at least the book publishing industry--one look at the Washington Post's "Book World" section should make that correlation glaringly obvious. ∞Σɛ_Þ² ^(τ|c) 05:42, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, I do not think this is worth making too big a fuss about. I was not intending to be deliberately obtuse about this. I am not so sure that your arguments follow. The Google search you linked above mostly leads us to proper nouns, which may be different from a phrase that is commonly used to refer to publishing. A search for "piano world" produces a similar result, but it does not mean that "piano world" is commonly used to refer to the music industry or the piano manufacturing industry. --Paul Erik 17:24, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Again, that's why the "world" phrases are called euphemisms/metaphors (visit the articles to learn more about what these things are). Removal of reference to Publishing

So, I let this issue sit for many months, and over that time I feel that it has become clear that the consensus of editors is that "book world" is not a term commonly used to refer to the publishing industry. Though discussion about this point stalled here, one can see in Publishing that the term "book world" was removed, in favor of "book trade" (I'll try to search up the diff in a moment) and has remained that way for some time. Per WP:MOSDAB, I believe this means that publishing has too tenuous a link to the term "book world" to justify inclusion in this page. Charlie-talk to me-what I've done 13:32, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
