Missing an entry for "a pair of bodies".

edit

Greetings - As I understand it, "a pair of bodies" (two halves, left and right, = 1 garment) was a (15th? 16th? century) precursor to "a pair of stays" which was a precursor to the corset. I came to find information on what bodies looked like, how they were made, and how they differed from stays, but there seems to be no WP article on this garment. Is there a way to request a Wikipedia article from writers who might be interested in the subject? Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 05:32, 30 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hold the 'phone - I found a redirect for "pair of bodies" that goes to "bodice". However, a bodice is not the same thing as bodies. Nearly all dresses have a bodice in their construction, right through to today. Bodies, on the other hand, were a precursor to stays (which are the precursor to the corset) and are no longer in use, except for historical re-enactors, I suppose. There's a fine point here that's been missed by the writers of the bodice article. Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 05:44, 30 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
