Needs breaking down into an introduction and sections. Way too many external links, many of them inline and unnecessary. GraemeL 01:25, 29 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

It also reads more like an essay than an encyclopedia article. It has too much original research, argument, and theorizing, and not enough facts. -Branddobbe 21:14, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

If we're not sure if Belle de Jour or She's a flight risk are fiction, then perhaps they should not be included in the article. Also to prevent bloggers from spamming the external links section in the future we should not include any blogs that haven't been either seriously discussed by a trusted source in the literary community or widely-read. Blog fiction that has been seriously considered important by people other than the author should be accompanied by links proving that this is the case. 68.194.132.20 10:02, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am not convinced that Plan B is blog fiction. Unlike most blogs, which have several posts on the same page in reverse chronological order, Plan B has seperate chapters like a book. I do not dispute the quality of the work, but as far as form goes, it is an e-book in blog drag. Modiggs1976 04:17, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Examples

I recognize that it would be improper for anyone to 'pimp' their blogs here, I do think that examples would be appropriate, particularly at the end... Tychoish

What a load of BS, frankly. There isn't enough decent blog fiction out on the internet for it to be regarded as a serious study of metafiction, or whatever crank academic theory the author was trying to prove with this waffle. There are a few fictional blogs out there of merit and a lot of ones which lasted for 2-3 posts before the author got bored and did something else. A lot of it is simple vanity writing.

I've removed some of the more over-the-top critical guff and shortened the front section considerably to explain in plain English what the hell blog fiction actually is.

Examples of blog fiction

I agree that it would be helpful to have some examples. But as you say it would also be improper for bloggers to just spam the page with links to their blogs so we need some sort of impartial source to justify what blog fictions to include in the list.

There's a dissertation/thesis on blog fiction online - Betsy's Phony Bologna. Perhaps we could mention this thesis and place a list of some of the fiction blogs mentioned in the thesis at the foot of the article. Does that sound reasonable? Would that count as a verifiable/reliable source? Hubbleshuff 21:13, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Could we vet a list through the talk page? Keep the total number posted limited to 10-15 examples, and draw from a pool of possibilities so that theirs a diverse set of links that captures the genre in total (blog fiction is a more wide genre than, say tumble logs, where projectionist and arachnia serve as pretty good exmplars of the entire field.) tycho garen (talk) 15:43, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Any examples referenced here should be independently notable - that is, they should probably have Wikipedia articles of their own. External links should not be here per WP:ELNO. - MrOllie (talk) 20:05, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Citations/style

Why does this article read like a sophomore in college wrote it? To top it off, there's no citations at all in the entire piece. There are a lot of claims here that definitely need proof to support. I added the appropriate tags where this article needed improvement. ldvhl (talk) 11:29, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
