Recipe, not an article edit

Doesn't sound like an encyclopedia article right now. --Rajah 03:02, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm looking for recipes though, should these types of articles be on Wikibooks or Wikiversity? --Bruce 13:41, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Some maths? MORE PICTURES edit

Of this article refers to the process/steps/algorithm that it would be necessary for someone to follow in order to create a Block diagram that is useful/relevant to their own situation.

Perhaps this would best be done by numbering such steps in an algorithmic fashion? Also, isn't there probably some work that has been done out there concerning how block diagrams can be arranged so as to optimise certain features of those diagrams (for example, by arranging the blocks and processes so that the minimal spanning graph for the processes would consist of a minimal number of edges?).

The article could also use more pictures.

Flowchart? edit

How does a block diagram specifically differ from a Flowchart? Is the name just field specific?--Waxsin (talk) 06:01, 7 March 2008 (UTC) how do i use block diagram to automate the activities of a super market —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.191.86.153 (talk) 12:19, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

--Vittorioolivati (talk) 00:45, 1 September 2020 (UTC)@Waxsin: A block diagram is the graphical description of a system, where the components are represented with geometrical figures and the communication between two components with arrows; a flow chart is the graphical description of the steps in an algorithm. Let's take as an example this edit: to show the chain that connects my PC, Wikipedia servers and your PC through the Internet, I'd better use a block diagram; to show the steps I'm doing to send you my answer, e.g. 1) write my edit 2) preview it 3) if I'm happy with it, I click on "Publish", else I go back to step 1) ... and so on, I'd better use a flow chart.Reply

Figure is not a good example edit

The discussion is about various types of block diagrams but the sole figure of a software architecture doesn't provide a good example of block diagrams as they are used in systems and electrical engineering. Jvasil (talk) 22:41, 2 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Add meaning of block diagram in control systems edit

In control systems, block diagrams are used to graphically represent systems. Simulink, a very popular software from Matlab, also uses block diagrams. Alej27 (talk) 01:11, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
