massive re-do left-out information, undone

I don't have a problem with sending readers to the trial or killer link and cleaning-up the trial info, but we don't decide what readers "should" be doing for one thing, there was a 3rr there by the editor trying to do too much improvement, and info was deleted. I would suggest smaller edits? The info. about the killer/victim's son being a consultant on the movie and then becoming the husband of actress Tracy Gold who was in the movie should be kept for instance.2601:C:67C0:F8:800C:5FD6:3C44:DE7C (talk) 00:38, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

I actually created this article many years ago, and it was one article for the trial, book and miniseries, and Rob Marshall didn't have his own biographical article. Now there are book, miniseries and bio articles. And while there is (and should be) some redundancy between them to give context, it is counterproductive to repeat every detail in all three articles. The bit about Roby marrying Tracey Gold is included in the miniseries article, where it belongs. That fact has nothing to do with the book, it was a direct offshoot of the miniseries and is only trivia in the context of the book, which was written years earlier. Similarly, information about Marshall's legal battles 20+ years later, his death, and even McGinnis' death are out of the scope of this article. I would also argue that yes, we are guiding readers ("deciding" for them) by shaping the content of articles in the most convenient and logical way. In the case of this article, I was intentionally removing the trial section. The first part summarized the crime, which is now covered elsewhere in the article, and the rest was all about Marshall in the 1990s. This information had already been split out into his biological article but was never cleaned up here. Marshall died and so editors want to participate and add that tidbit wherever he is mentioned on Wikipedia, I get it, but it doesn't belong everywhere. Also, I don't think any of my edits were 3RR considering I was the only one who bothered to explain my actions via edit summary. — TAnthony^Talk 01:02, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

After considering your comment here I just added Tracey Gold to the Blind Faith section of Robert O. Marshall, I think it does fit into the extended narrative of Marshall and his family. Thanks.— TAnthony^Talk 01:17, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
