Every once in a while, I see someone add something to the George Floyd protests in New York City based on sources that don't even mention George Floyd. I've been thinking about how best to handle such material, and how to organize the article in general. There is no agreed upon end point for the George Floyd protests, of course; he and his name have become part of a larger movement that will continue for the foreseeable future. At the same time, there's no article to cover the Black Lives Matter events in NYC before the George Floyd protests. So I created this article to cover Black Lives Matter in NYC from Eric Garner to the present, while the article about George Floyd protests in NYC is specific to the events of May-June. It's hard to draw clear lines, like I said, but my sense of the sourcing and events is that events tied directly to the killing of George Floyd (as far as NYC is concerned) are few and far between after Occupy City Hall and the budget. So here we are. I'd welcome additional thoughts/editing. I've copied some material from killing of Eric Garner and a little bit from Black Lives Matter while summarizing George Floyd protests in New York City, and pulled more from the sources cited. Looking forward to seeing how this develops. — Rhododendritestalk \\ 04:16, 14 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
