True reason for Black Flags Name edit

Prospector Norman Sligo claims to have discovered the Black Flag goldfield by finding a floater nugget in 1893 and explains the area was named such due to the hills and flats being coated with black ironstone wash, in his book Mates and Gold ISBN 0 85905 024 6 published 1980 pages 42 and 43. I have tried adding this information to the wiki page but it has been immediately removed even though it has been correctly citated and quoted word for word from the book. Wikipedia has little hope of being a relevant source of information when it is impossible to remove false content from a page and replace it with correct and accurate information. Truth and False is irrelevent, the point that needs to be understood is whether WP:RS are available for claims for or against an explanation of a historically unretrievable item such as who or why a place is named. JarrahTree 02:52, 25 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
