I have done my best to find credible references for this article. There seems to be none available on the internet. I have e-mailed several maintainers of sites related to Maine geography and history trying to get more information. One woman provided me information, which corroborates the claims of this article, which she claims was sourced from the "the Gazetteer of the State of Maine", found in the Univ. of Maine Library at Farmington, Maine. As I cannot find anymore information on this source, I will not use it as a reference, however it is this source that affirms my belief in the truth of this article.
