If it's to be kept... edit
...then it needs some work. I still don't get the force of the phrase "a term that correlates with Bibliothek." Are we really just saying that the word "Bibliotheca" is similar to the German word "Bibliothek"? Cause if so, I don't get the point of saying that. The word for library in Spanish also sounds like that - "Biblioteca" - and this is presumably true in other Romance Languages as well. Should we mention that? As far as I can tell, this is just another term for library - sometimes the word "Bibliotheca" is used for big ones. Is that really all this article says? It seems pretty much like a dictionary definition to me. -GTBacchus 02:25, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
Preferable edit
I think "Bibliotheca" is preferable to "Library", especially when one is considering building institutions and monuments that one wishes to survive as heritage for future generations. But I believe that Bibliotheca is also in the English langauge (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=bibliotheca), and that "-theca" is a suffix used in many words (See http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=-theca). - A suffix used in many words? Name three. I don't think there's any doubt that "bibliotheca" is in the English language. The issue is whether it's anything other than a high-falutin synonym for "library". - I've gone ahead and redirected to library. That article already mentions (in fact says more) about the history and similarities to other languages. The linked-to wiktionary page doesn't exist; "Large libraries on college campusses are sometimes called bibliothecas", while perhaps true, is both perhaps unnotable (if it's just "some" that are called such), and unproven/cited; none of the linked "bibliotechas" are college libraries. The list of bibliotechas seems little more than a collection of names that include the word; it includes the latin name of the Vatican Library, a book, a redlink, a project by some national libraries, and Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which is actually a library in Egypt.
