Currently a part of bhrigu sahinta ( this is the right word instead of samhita) is available in Hoshiarpur/sultanpur district of current indian punjab state. Bhrigu shastri Shri Shyama Charan Trivedi possess this ancient invaluable sahinta. Many people have found their horoscope in this part of world. For any enquiry pl.contact Kirpal singh 09814659200 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.188.105.227 (talk • contribs)
Oh please Nalanda was a Buddhist University for Gods sakes(unlike Taxila which was Hindu as well). The stories about Bhrigu Samhita being destroyed or taken away from Nalanda are totally fabricated. Also, parts of Bhrigu Samhita survive in various parts of India, which suggests that there were many copies of it and were distributed among families across the country over the centuries. Off couese not all 5 million horoscopes could have survived over 3 millenia invaders or no invaders. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.145.76.44 (talk) 02:26, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

This article needs a complete rewrite
editHi all, I'm sure you have noticed that this article lacks any actual references and relies on the mythological claims made in the "Bhrigu Samhita" itself. It reads like a mythological account of the Bhrigu Samhita rather than an actual historical one. For example, in the starting paragraph, it says "The Bhrigu Saṃhitā is a thousands of years ((No references)) old Sanskrit astrological (Jyotish) classic attributed in its introduction to Maharishi Bhrigu during the Vedic period, the Treta yuga ((Mythological age))". . It then goes on to an explanation of why the mythical Maharshi Bhrigu wrote this treatise, again completely ignoring the actual history behind it. This whole paragraph should be replaced by an account of the actual origin and purpose of the text rather than a mythological theory of its origin. I have marked the article as needing a complete rewrite. Please let me know if there is any opposition to this. (gnanvit (talk) 13:12, 15 April 2018 (UTC))
- It antedates recorded history so you will find no historical record. But if you consult it you can find out who you were thousands of years ago. And what you will be in your next life. Remember that in the cosmic order you are more insignificant than an ant, yet you think you know everything.24.139.24.163 (talk) 23:48, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think the editor claimed to know everything in any way. They were advocating skepticism, which is the opposite. (I am an admirer of Advaita, by the way—I mean no disrespect to Hinduism's rich philosophical tradition.) Anyway, my search doesn't turn up any reliable sources on the book, just one article that appears to be in a fringe academic journal. I am going to add a template indicating this article may not meet WP notability guidelines. I won't list it for deletion now, though, to give people time to provide sources if they have some.
