I've removed "Burton" edit
The "Burt" in Burton does not have the same origin as the ...bert (bright) element discussed in this article. The Burt in Burton is in google scholar and all sources I can find, including analysis of Burton, spelled earlier as Borton, Bortone, in the Domesday book of current towns called Burton (the source of the surname) indicate that "Bur" derives from Burg, Burgh, Bourough, etc meaning a fortified area, with "...tun"/"...ton, being a precursor to current spelling of town (enclosure).Explainador (talk) 01:17, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Bert in Frisian Names edit
It's incorrect that Bert doesn't exist in Fryslân. On the contrary. Even more than anywhere else. However they always drop rt at the end. Many West Frisian names end on e and East Frisian names on o. Just a few examples of Bert or Brecht in West Frisian names. And there are 1000's more.
