Vandal

My boyfriend attends Berry College and I can safely say that 1) no mascot is a "Flying Monkey" and 2) there is no football played at Berry. Any edits to the contrary are vandalism and should be reverted. Mike H 01:50, May 11, 2005 (UTC)

Oh, but I do wish they had some flying monkeys ...

"Largest contiguous campus in the world"

I've always heard this but does anyone know if it's actually true (and meets WP:VERIFY)? --A. B. 21:00, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

I've heard the same claim made by other schools. Since the claim here is uncited, it may well be false. --Wordbuilder 14:06, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Berry College itself is broken into two distinct campuses and the adjoining wildlife management area. If you include undeveloped wilderness generally unaccessible by students in everyday activities (including when the area is off limits during hunting season,) Berry College has a contiguous campus measured in the thousands of acres. However. The eight or so buildings in which courses are taught are located along one stretch of road the length of perhaps four city blocks. The largest campus debate is much akin to the tallest building debate. It comes down to a matter of semantics and rules. 67.166.203.139 14:20, 5 September 2007 (UTC) (Edit 67.166.203.139 14:25, 5 September 2007 (UTC))

Some proposed changes

---Religion--- Berry College's mission statement espouses "values based on Christian principles."[5] The college board chose to shutter the middle and high school academy, and used that campus property to court the leadership of Chick Fil-A, a Christian-run business, through its WinShape foundation programs.[6] The campus has a chaplain, four chapels, and an active religion-in-life program supporting all Christian denominations and religions outside of Christianity. The school recognizes the Student Association for an Inter-Religious Community, which is a student organization that encourages dialogue between religions represented on campus.

Information to be added or removed: ---Religion--- Please remove the sentence not related to Berry College's religion. "The college board chose to shutter the middle and high school academy, and used that campus property to court the leadership of Chick-Fil-A, a Christian-run business, through its WinShape Foundation programs."

Explanation of issue: This notation might fit better under facilities section. The Berry Academy (high school) closed in 1983. The college board established guidelines for use of the former facilities that any use should be reimbursed by an outside agency and not operated by Berry. In 1983-84, the Chick-fil-A Scholars college program was proposed and began in 1984 in the former facilities.

Berry College's Christian identity

One or more unregistered editors have removed "Christian" from the lede of this article with the claim that the college "is not and does not claim to be a Christian School." That is incorrect. The very first sentence of the college's mission says that it's a college "with Christian values." Further, on its "About Berry College" webpage the college says that it is "[h]istorically nondenominational [and] embraces such Christian principles as inclusivity and service."

Perhaps this could or should be described differently in this article but it's an essential fact that must be included in the article including the lede. ElKevbo (talk) 02:50, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
