Removed comment edit

I removed the comment "(for instance, the third novel introduces Bernie's best friend Carolyn, a lesbian, whose relationship with him is strongly influenced by the fact that there is no sexual tension between them whatsoever; this would not work with Rhodenbarr portrayed by a woman)." as: 1) _Burglar_ was released in 1987, after the fifth book was published. 2) _Burglar_ did have a Carolyn analogue, who was a gay man. Is there a better example? Ralphmerridew 01:18, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Short stories edit

Prior to any edit that I might do based upon the following, the article stated that there are four Bernie Rhodenbarr short stories, starting with "A Bad Night for Burglars." I dispute that the latter is a Bernie Rhodenbarr short story, based upon the following:

at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/a-bad-night-for-burglars-lawrence-block/1113126761, Lawrence Block says: “A Bad Night for Burglars” was written sometime in the fall of 1975, probably not much more than six months before I began work on Bernie Rhodenbarr’s debut in "Burglars Can’t Be Choosers." ... It wasn’t until years later that I saw “A Bad Night for Burglars” as a precursor to the book and thus to the whole Bernie Rhodenbarr series. ...The titular burglar who’s having a distinctly bad night doesn’t have a name, nor does he own a secondhand bookstore and hang out with a poodle-grooming lesbian. But it’s not hard to see the shadow of Bernie here."

Additionally, in the 2005 collection of short stories, "Enough Rope," the stories are arranged by series character, where applicable. "A Bad Night for Burglars" is not in the section of Bernie Rhodenbarr stories, but is listed with other unclassified stories.

(A little more background on “A Bad Night for Burglars:” ... my first sale to Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine. Fred [Dannay] specialized in changing titles, rarely for the better; he changed this one ["A Bad Night for Burglars"] to “Gentlemen’s Agreement” ...)
