Aliant → Bell Aliant – The name of the company (Aliant) has recently changed it's name to Bell Aliant, after the merger between Bell and Aliant. Ampersand2006 ( & ) 20:10, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

- Oppose Aliant is my local phone company. No piece of advertising or other material I get from them mentions Bell, and their website at [1] only mentions Bell in small print. "Bell Aliant" may be their longform name, but common names convention applies here. Kirjtc2 20:20, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- Support – User:Ardenn's reason for reverting my earlier move back in July was that "The naming convention dictates we use the most commonly used name, not the legal name." But "Aliant" is more common in Atlantic Canada only. The company operates under the "Bell" brand in Ontario and Quebec, and uses "Bell Aliant" as the corporate brand. — stickguy (:^›)— || talk || 20:28, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose – It'll be best if we use the common name for the title for now. --Ampersand2006 ( & ) 20:38, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Category "Companies based in xx"
Aliant has a presence in all four Atlantic Provinces and is now providing services to parts of Ontario and Quebec. A company cannot be based in all of these provinces, it has to be isolated to the seat of corporate decision making, which at present is Halifax. I proposed to drop all of the provinces noted in the Category and maintain just one for clarification purposes. HJKeats 15:23, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
