Genetic / Cellbiology related explanation edit

I understand that the myostatin gene is mutated in one way or the other so the normal inhibitory effect on muscle growth is not done. But why do the muscles still stop growing eventually? The article should explain this. The only net difference that I can see is that these cows look like hulks but still like cows. It's not as if they lost all control over muscle growth clearly, as otherwise their muscles would never stop growing.
