Notability of Beaver group edit

A tag has been placed on Beaver group requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

I think this is where I can talk about the contention for Speedy Deletion of the article on Beaver Group. If not, please let me know where I should write this.

It is indeed an article about a company, but it is still worthy of note in Wikipedia. Beaver Group is a leading digital signage agency in the UK. They have been awarded Best Digital Signage Project of the Year in the AV Awards. They are an established part of the digital signage industry, having been around since 1978 (which is almost ten years longer than the digital signage software company Scala - who also has an article). They are the developers of the Autograph software, which is in use by restaurants to manage menu board systems across the UK.

I'm not sure what counts in Wikipedia as "notable", but I definitely feel that Beaver Group is notable enough. Their position and involvement in the digital signage industry mean that as a growing industry (despite being nearly 30 years old), Beaver Group is a noteable company in a popular market.

Perhaps if someone could point out their specific issues with this article, I could revise it to suit the standards better? As you can see already, it has cited its sources.

  • Based on the assertion that it won some award, I declined the speedy deletion nomination. But regular speed deletion might still be tried. Your best bet is to read WP:FAQ/Business, and cite third party publications about the Beaver Group to establish that others consider it notable. Cheers, WilyD 16:25, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
