Bayport is not Fictional
editThe setting for the Hardy Boys books is not fictional. The creater of the series Edward Stratemeyer chose Bayport, NY to be the setting.
Barmet Bay is from old Dutch
editBarmetje Baai is what the early Dutch settlers called the Great South Bay. It means "Little Severe Bay" which is from "Barmetje Baai." Barme is "severe" in Dutch.
